Kanyakumari is a coastal town located at the southernmost tip of India, in the state of Tamil Nadu. Extending into the Laccadive Sea, it was known as Cape Comorin during British rule. The town is famous for its stunning views of the sunrise and sunset over the ocean. Kanyakumari is also an important pilgrimage destination, home to the Bagavathi Amman Temple, dedicated to a consort of Shiva, and the Our Lady of Ransom Church, a significant center of Indian Catholicism.
