Kumarakom is a picturesque village located on the shores of Vembanad Lake in the backwaters of Kerala, southern India. Interwoven with canals, the village is famous for its scenic houseboat cruises. The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, a haven for bird lovers, hosts a variety of species including cuckoos and Siberian storks. Nearby, the Bay Island Driftwood Museum exhibits unique wooden sculptures. In the middle of the lake, Pathiramanal Island serves as a sanctuary for rare migratory birds. To the east of Kumarakom lies the ancient Thazhathangady Mosque, adding a touch of historical charm to the area.
